State volleyball: Marysville-Pilchuck wins, E-W loses

Posted at 5:57 pm by Mike Cane, Herald Writer

It’s been a good day so far for the Marysville-Pilchuck Tomahawks at the Toyota Center in Kennewick.

That’s where M-P and 15 other teams are competing the Class 4A state volleyball championships. The Tomahawks edged Curtis 3-2 earlier today in what must have been an epic first-round match.

M-P, the District 1 No. 3 seed, is scheduled to play Skyview in the quarterfinals at 3:30 this afternoon. Skyview walloped Bellarmine Prep 3-0 in the first round.

Elsewhere in the bracket, Edmonds-Woodway lost 3-0 against Lewis & Clark in the first round. Lewis & Clark is the tourney favorite. E-W is set to play Issaquah in a loser-out consolation match 9 a.m. tomorrow.

Monroe is tied 1-1 in its first-round match versus Rogers of Puyallup.

The 2A state volleyball tournament is also taking place at the Toyota Center. Archbishop Murphy is scheduled to start its opening-round match against Grandview at 2 p.m.
