Nuts and bolts: Snohomish Christmas parlour tour

Home tour: The Snohomish Historical Society's annual Christmas Parlour Tour will be from noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 14 in Snohomish. This annual self-guided tour will feature nine private homes, including five historic and four newer homes, all decked out in festive holiday finery.

Ticket-holders can also tour the Victorian-era Blackman House Museum, and sample tea and baked cookies at the Tim Noah Thumbnail Theater. Tour maps are included with tickets, which cost $15 or $10 for seniors and children younger than 15. Proceeds will benefit the Blackman House Museum.

Buy tickets in advance at Joyworks, Kusler's, Queen Bee, Speckled Hen, Sun Song and Weeds Variety, all in Snohomish. Day-of-tour tickets will be available at the Blackman House Museum, 118 Ave. B, and Tim Noah's Thumbnail Theater, 1211 Fourth St. For more information call 360-568-5235 or the Chamber of Commerce at 360-568-2526.

Festival of Trees: Do you need fresh inspiration for holiday decorating this year? The 2008 Festival of Trees might be one of the best places to get it. Now celebrating its 23rd year, the annual Providence General Foundation event features numerous trees and wreaths decorated by local businesses, interior designers, florists and individuals.

A free community open house is scheduled from noon to 8 p.m. Dec. 3 at Comcast Arena at Everett, 2000 Hewitt Ave.

Light refreshments and children's activities will be provided along with live music by local community groups, including choirs and instrumental ensembles. Children's craft activities will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available for photos from 3 to 7 p.m.

Trees and wreaths displayed during festival week will be made available for purchase at a gala dinner and auction on Dec. 4 ($175 per person). Other events include an opening night and silent auction on Dec. 2 ($50 per person) and a Teddy Bear Breakfast, followed by ice skating on Dec. 6 ($25 per person).

Proceeds from the events benefit Providence Children's Center. See www.providence.org/everett or call 425-258-7500 for more information.
