Gun sales soar following election

Posted at 3:23 pm by Jerry Cornfield

A story in the Chicago Tribune today says gun stores are doing a brisk business since Nov. 4.

Every type of weapon - from handguns to assault rifles - is getting bought up at dealers in the Midwest, according to the story.

Reporter Howard Will writes the trend is anecdotal for now as there's no national calculations of sales this past week. Reasons he heard for the uptick range from those fearing racial conflict to those worried President-elect Obama will reimpose a ban on the sale of assault weapons.
