FYI

Memorial planned for Monroe artist Genevieve Tuck

Longtime and well-known Monroe artist Genevieve Tuck, who at the age of 87 was named Artist of the Year by the Arts Council of Snohomish County, will be remembered for her passion for oil painting and how she'd spend hours and hours capturing the world as an outdoor or "plein air" artist.

Tuck died Aug. 26 at 100 years old.

A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. today at Snohomish United Methodist Church, 2400 Lake Ave. SE, Snohomish, where she celebrated her 100th birthday. A reception is scheduled to follow in the fellowship hall.

Donations can be made in Tuck's name to the Snohomish County Arts Council.

The Marysville Parks and Recreation Department needs coaches for its youth basketball league for kids in first through eighth grades.

Practices begin the first week of December and the league runs through March.

The program focuses on developing fundamentals, teamwork and good sportsmanship.

Volunteer packets are available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays at the Marysville Parks and Recreation Office, in Jennings Memorial Park at 6915 Armar Road.

Fore more information, call 360-363-8400.

Correction

Everett City Councilman Paul Roberts took office Jan. 1, 2006. A story on a debate over a children's theater that ran on Page B1 Aug. 14 incorrectly reported when he first started as a councilman.
