Group pushing for theater venue The Marysville Community Playhouse Association has scheduled a meeting on fundraising for a performing arts venue in the city. The meeting is at 7 p.m. Sept. 24 at the Marysville Library, 6120 Grove St. The group also is seeking board members. For more information, call Kelly McClain, 360-653-3402. Fundraiser for Special Olympics The Monroe Police Department is teaming up with Thrive Community Fitness to participate in the Cycling for Special Olympics fundraiser from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at 118 N. Lewis St., Suite 104, Monroe. The police department has long supported Special Olympics, which is mainly for athletes with disabilities. For more information, call Cindy Chessie at 360-863-4582. Volunteers needed for friendship walk Village Community Services is looking for volunteers for the upcoming Friendship Walk on Sept. 21. Volunteers help with planning, setup, registration, safety and manning stations along the walk route. The Friendship Walk celebrates the inclusion of people with disabilities in community life.
