It's been a few of years since I have had the chance to make some pictures at the Monroe Fair. Three years ago, when I was a lowly photo intern, I was given the monumental task of writing and shooting a photo column from the fair. Thankfully, Herald staff photographer Dan Bates helped lighten the load, and between the two of us we tackled the column in the summer heat. Now, I am a staff photographer and I was happy to go back and shoot haphazardly without the weight of the column hanging over my head. Anywho, here's a couple of images I made yesterday at the fair. Oh...and don't forget to check out Mark Mulligan's (our new photo intern) fair column running all week on page B3.

101 year-old Joseph Siegert, of Stanwood, waits for other centenarians to arrive at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds on Monday morning. Siegert and 23 other centenarians, those who have lived over one century, broke the Guinness World Record for the largest group of centenarians gathered in one place. (Kevin Nortz / The Herald)
