Garcia "ahead of schedule," scrimmage today, and other Thursday notes

Posted at 12:49 pm by John Boyle

Juan Garcia continues his amazing comeback from the Lisfranc sprain he suffered in April, and said today that things are still going well. He had a brief scare Tuesday when Jordan White-Frisbee fell on his injured foot/ankle, but said it was just that, a scare, and that he's still on track to possibly get back for Oregon.

"It’s good," he said. "We’re ahead of schedule."

If Garcia makes it onto the field against the Ducks, it will definitely go down as one of the feel-good stories of the season.

Not a lot of big news from Tyrone Willingham's press briefing today. He said that the team will have officials at this afternoon's practice, which would indicate a scrimmage taking place. Another good indicator of a scrimmage is that we're not allowed to attend today's practice, not even the first 25 minutes the media usually gets.

On the injury front, I talked to Nate Williams today, and he said he has been slowed by a bruised knee (he said he took a helmet to the knee), but that they're just being cautious with it and he will be fine for game week.

All for now, and that'll probably be it for the day since practice is closed.
