The rooster is seen here in 1983 on its perch atop the Chicken Drive-In near Frontier Village in Lake Stevens. The bird was kept atop the eatery, and frequently stolen by high school pranksters, from 1968 to 1995.

Here they come to snuff the rooster

The infamous Lake Stevens chicken, long the target of pranks by local high school students, has a kindred soul in eastern Washington, it seems.

The Tri-City Herald has an entertaining story and even a video of Rudy the rooster, who was apparently stolen and then abandoned on the side of the road.

Yes, the chicken tried to cross the road. Rudy's owner says he plans to bolt the 400-pound, 5-foot-tall bird to a concrete slab so he'll stay put from now on.
