Forgotten lotto ticket nabs $110,000 for Arlington man
By Justin Arnold Herald Writer
ARLINGTON – A second take at a Lottery ticket paid off for Alan Jenks.
Jenks, who had bought the ticket two weeks ago from a Safeway, promptly put the winning ticket in his pocket and forgot about it.
After Jenks heard that a winning ticket for the “Hit 5” lotto had been bought at the same Safeway, he opened his wallet and struck gold.
“I knew there had been a winner there, but I didn’t think anything of it,” Jenks said in a statement released by the Washington State Lottery.
Jenks, a general contractor, and his wife, Debbie, plan on paying off some bills.
