According to AAA's daily report, that new record average is 27 cents higher than a month ago. The average price for diesel in this region was at $4.49 a gallon on Friday, down a penny over the past two weeks. Mountain Pacific has second branch Everett-based Mountain Pacific Bank has opened a second location in Lynn­wood, one described by CEO Mark Duffy as an important expansion in Snohomish County. The new branch is located near the intersection of 196th Street SW and Highway 99. It will offer the same product and services as the main office. Cantwell, labor to discuss tanker U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., will meet with labor leaders on Saturday to discuss how the Boeing Co.'s loss of an aerial refueling tanker contract could impact the state's and nation's work force. The U.S. Air Force selected in February a tanker offered by Northrop Grumman and EADS, which will build their tanker in Alabama. Boeing's 767-based tanker would have been built in Everett. Cantwell will meet with representatives from Boeing's labor groups at 4:15 p.m. today at SPEEA's main hall, 15205 52nd Ave. S., Seattle. Business session for environment The Washington State Procurement Technical Assistance Center will host a conference Tuesday for small businesses interested in learning more about environmentally friendly practices. The event runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Holiday Inn, 3105 Pine St., Everett. The Snohomish County Economic Development Council, MacDonald-Miller and the Boeing Co. are sponsoring the conference. Microsoft appeals $1.4 billion EU fine Microsoft Corp. on Friday said it has appealed a $1.4 billion fine imposed in February by the European Commission for the company's failure to comply with a 2004 antitrust order. Spokesman Jack Evans said Microsoft filed an application with the Court of First Instance in Luxembourg to annul the commission's decision.
