Fund-raiser for
EquiFriends — Sept. 1-30
Arts of Snohomish Gallery and Dayville Hay and Grain will present a month
of “Horses & Hounds.” The fund-raising event is for EquiFriends (www.equifriends.org),
an area riding facility for children and adults with disabilities. The
gallery, at 105 Cedar in Snohomish, will have original artwork, prints
and cards for sale. A reception, where people can meet artists and the
riders who participate in the EquiFriends program, will be 2-5 p.m. on
Sept. 11. Throughout the month, the gallery will sell “Dayville Dollars”
that will be deposited at Dayville Hay & Grain for EquiFriends to use
for purchasing feed and supplies. The gallery is open 10 a.m to 5 p.m.
Tuesdays through Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. For more information,

Zonta Club meetings
— Sept. 1 and 15
Zonta Club of Everett will hold its monthly breakfast meeting at 7:30
a.m. on Sept. 1 at the Everett Golf and Country Club, 1500 52nd St. SE,
Everett. The business meeting will be at noon on Sept. 15, at the same
location. The public is invited to attend.
Snohomish Chamber
After Hours — Sept. 6
The topic for this month’s Snohomish After Hours is “Rally For Reasonable
Signs.” The event is 5:30-7 p.m., Sept. 6, at Collector’s Choice Restaurant.
The discussion will be about sign regulations appropriate to business
areas of Snohomish. Complimentary appetizers will be served.
LeTip meets, shares
tips — Sept. 7-28
The Everett Downtown LeTip will meet 11:35 a.m. on Sept. 7, 14, 21 and
28 at The Flying Pig Restaurant, 2929 Colby Ave., Everett. The organization
meets to network and share industry tips. First-time visitors get a free

Arts council hosts
exhibit — Sept. 8
Arts Council of Snohomish County will present artwork by members of the
Seattle Co-Arts Sept. 8-Oct. 27, with an opening reception at 5-8 p.m.
on Sept. 8. Membership in Seattle Co-Arts, which was founded in 1949,
is made up of 150 artists from a wide area that includes Snohomish County.
The organization gives back to communities through annual scholdarships
to students continuing their art education. The gallery, located at 1507
Wall St., is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11 a.m.
to 3 p.m. on Saturday. For more information, call 425-257-8380.
Small-business
fair — Sept. 10
The ninth annual Washington Small Business Fair will be 8 a.m. to 3:30
p.m. on Sept. 10 at Renton Technical College, 3000 NE Fourth St., Renton.
Business representatives will conduct seminars and provide information
on topics that include taxes, business planning, marketing and Web sites.
The Department of Revenue will provide an overview of business taxes.

Marketing seminar
— Sept. 13
Andrew Ballard, of Marketing Solutions, will host a marketing seminar
on Sept. 13 at the Snohomish Library, 311 Maple Ave., Snohomish. Registration
and a continental breakfast will begin at 7:30 a.m. and the seminar will
be 8-9:30 a.m. Ballard, who has more than 20 years of experience in marketing,
communications and management, will discuss strategies to increase sales
revenue and market share and build customer retention. He will also show
how to do market research, implement an action plan and increase the return
from advertising dollars. Cost for the seminar is $25 per business if
registered by Sept. 9, and $35 per business if registered on the day of

Free tax workshop
— Sept. 14
The Everett office of the Washington State Department of Revenue will
host a free workshop to help business owners understand their tax reporting
responsibilities. The workshop will be 1:30-4:30 p.m. on Sept. 14 at the
Everett Public Library, 2707 Hoyt Ave. Revenue staff members will demonstrate
the department’s electronic filing system and explain excise taxes, reporting
classifications, deductions and sales tax collection, and record-keeping
requirements. Participants will receive a workbook with answers to most
commonly asked questions and copies of Department of Revenue rules and

Monroe Vocal Project Toastmasters meets at 7:30 p.m. every Tuesday night
