Business tax seminar
— Nov. 3
WorkSource Lynnwood is sponsoring a business tax seminar, which will run
from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 3. Presenters Barney Hillard and Steven Russo
of the Lynnwood District Tax Office and Judy Johnson of the Unemployment
Insurance Benefits Office will explain changes in tax law that become
effective Jan. 1. The seminar will be held at WorkSource Lynnwood, 20311

Everett traffic
presentation — Nov. 4
The Everett Area Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Everett Action Committee
will hold a presentation Nov. 4 on the “Downtown Everett Traffic Signal
Timing Plan” with speaker Michael Stringham of Perteet Engineering. The
event, which includes lunch, will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
in the Weyerhaeuser Room at Everett Station, 3201 Smith Ave. Cost to attend

Annual charity
gala — Nov. 4
Wight’s Home & Garden is holding its annual Wight’s Wonderland of Christmas
Charity Gala from 5 to 8 p.m. at its shop, 5026 196th St. SW, in Lynnwood.
Wine, hors d’oeuvres and desserts will be available for attendees, who
will get a private viewing of the 2004 Wonderland of Christmas, an elaborate
display of Christmas theme trees, holiday decorations and gift ideas.
All proceeds from the $10 per person ticket sales plus 10 percent of the
evening’s sales go directly to benefit the Edmonds School District Public
Education Foundation. Tickets may be purchased at Wight’s or ordered by

Leadership conference
— Nov. 9-10
The Washington State Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board
will host its fourth leadership conference, “Workforce Strategies 2004:
Leading in a Global Economy,” at the Sheraton Hotel and Conference Center
in Tacoma on Nov. 9 and 10. Speakers will include U.S. Bancorp economist
John Mitchell, who will highlight Pacific Northwest economic trends with
an emphasis on Washington state’s place in the global economy; Bill Center,
president of the Washington Council on International Trade; and Margaret
Hallock, director of the Wayne Morse Center for Law and Politics at the
University of Oregon. More details about the conference and its agenda

Contractor claims
workshop — Nov. 12
Contract Solutions Group presents its second annual workshop on “Contractor
Claims: Prevention and Effective Resolution” from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Nov. 12 at the Red Lion in downtown Seattle. Program Chair Ronald Leaders
of Buckley & Leaders and presenters from Pinnell/Busch, the Washington
state Department of General Administration, Moss Adams and Sampley Consulting
will present an interactive workshop on strategies to prevent and manage
contractor claims on public works and private contracts. The program provides
continuing education credits for attorneys, engineers, accountants and
architects. Cost for the program is $99 for those working for a public
entity and $79 for each additional person registering from that entity,

Edmonds Chamber
luncheon — Nov. 18
The Greater Edmonds Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly chamber
membership meeting from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 18 at the Edmonds Yacht
Club behind Anthony’s at 456 Admiral Way. A “State of the Chamber” presentation
will be given by chamber staff. Cost is $20 per person or $15 for chamber

luncheon — Nov. 19
The Everett Area Chamber of Commerce and Coastal Community Bank are sponsoring
an economic forecast luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 19 at
the Everett Golf & Country Club, 1500 52nd St. Economic consultant Bill
Conerly will present an economic forecast at this special chamber luncheon.
Cost to attend is $30 for chamber members who prepay and $35 for all others.
