Tulalip grant funds
substance abuse education
Choice & Consequence, an Arlington-based nonprofit organization providing
substance abuse prevention education to schoolchildren, was on the receiving
end of a $10,000 grant from the Tulalip Tribes in February. Officials
with the nonprofit said the funding will be used to bring “The Real Inside
Story,” a presentation using human organs to illustrate the damaging effects
of substance abuse, to alternative schools, schools serving tribal communities
and low-income schools in Snohomish County — reaching more than 4,000
additional students.
EdCC
has interns
for area businesses
Edmonds Community College wants businesses to know that if they need extra
help in the workplace, providing an internship could be the way to go.
The college encourages or requires internships for many of its students
in programs such as accounting, paralegal, hospitality and tourism, computer
information systems, health information technology and business management.

Days Inn reopens
in Everett
The Days Inn motel at 1122 N. Broadway in Everett has re-opened after
renovating the lobby and laundry area following a fire that closed the
lodging facility May 15. The motel has 51 rooms and suites, some equipped
with microwaves and refrigerators.
HomeGrown Festival
coming to Marysville
Lowell Dudley, of Dudley’s Office, has been selected to coordinate the
annual HomeGrown Festival coming to Marysville on Aug. 12 and 13. The
street fair, in its 20th year, is a Marysville Downtown Merchant’s Association
project.
HomeGrown is a street-vendor
marketplace showcasing local produce, craft artisans, musicians and artists.
Merchant booths are set up on Third Street, east of State Avenue. The
HomeGrown Festival is one of the city’s major annual family events.
Everett Events
Center
revamps online presence
The Everett Events Center’s Web site, www.everetteventscenter.com,
has a new look and capabilities thanks to Everett-based technology and
advertising firm Luminous. Now, event details and online ticket purchasing
are just one click away from the main page as is complete information
and schedules for the Everett Silvertips and Everett Hawks.
Other enhancements
include the ability to sign up for the Cyber Club to receive event announcements,
pre-sale offers and exclusive members-only offers.
Edmonds marketing
campaign
has cyber home
“Find Yourself in Edmonds,” a branding and marketing campaign funded this
year by the city of Edmonds, the Port of Edmonds, the Greater Edmonds
Chamber of Commerce and individual business contributions, now has a Web
site, www.FindYourselfinEdmonds.com.
Designed primarily
for Edmonds businesses that join the Team Edmonds community marketing
program, the site also includes links for visitors to learn about the
city.
Alderwood adds
tenants;
work on theater continues
The newest additions to Alderwood’s mix of retail tenants includes Buckle’s,
featuring brand-name clothing and shoes; Hollisters, offering a variety
of merchandise, from swimwear to baseball caps; Pochi Tea Station’s bubble
teas in multiple flavors; Mrs. Field’s Cookies, coming back to the mall
in a new space; and Auntie Anne’s, opening its second location in the
mall in space near the soon-to-open UW Medicine children’s play area.
Also, construction
continues on Loews’ new 16-screen theater complex at The Terraces in Alderwood,
due for a March opening.
