ACCOUNTING
F. Ryan Hanggi has been promoted to senior accountant at Hascal,
Sjoholm & Co. PS Certified Public Accountants of Everett. A graduate of
The Master’s College in Santa Clarita, Calif., with a degree in business
administration, accounting emphasis, Hanggi has been with the firm since
1999.
BIOTECH
Jade Brown has been named senior director of marketing and business
development for Nastech Pharmaceutical Co. Inc. of Bothell. He previously
was with Eli Lily & Co. Paul Lunn has joined Nastech Pharmaceutical
as its in-house patent counsel. He previously was principal patent attorney
for ZymoGenetics Inc. of Seattle.
CONSTRUCTION
Jason McDaniel has been appointed HCI Steel Building Systems’ district
sales representative for Washington, northern Oregon, northern Idaho and
Montana. He has been with Arlington-based HCI for more than 10 years,
most recently as chief estimator. Also, HCI recently recognized five employees
for their commitment to the company, including Bill Holden, a 20-year
employee; Don Teeple, a 15-year employee; and Sean Moodie, Jim
Cline and Buzz Tompkin, 10-year employees.
EDUCATION
Sunni Bannon has joined the University of Washington, Bothell,
as the undergraduate adviser for the business program.
The Edmonds Community
College Foundation board of directors elected Mike Gianunzio, general
counsel of the Snohomish County Public Utility District, as its new chair
for a two-year term. Gianunzio will serve on the Foundation’s executive
committee with Dick Van Hollebeke, vice chair; Diana Clay, treasurer;
and Ruth Arista, secretary. Vaughn Sherman is the immediate
past chair of the Foundation Board.
Edmonds Community
College employees Edward Heisel, cashier supervisor; Laverne
Bean, cashier; Christina Hanson and Caroline Mann, instructional
technicians in the science laboratories; and Marla Rice, program
assistant for college relations and advancement, recently received Classified
Excellence Awards from the EdCC Foundation in recognition of their contributions
to the college and students.
FINANCIAL
Banner Bank has hired Bill Jenkins as vice president and controller.
He replaces Ted Picknell, who has become Banner’s special accounting
projects manager. Jenkins has more than 24 years of banking experience.
Most recently he served as vice president and chief financial officer
of North State National Bank in Chico, Calif. Banner Bank also has hired
Allison Gilham as vice president and branch operations liaison.
In this newly created position, she will work with retail branches, initially
in Washington and eastern Oregon, to improve operations, sales and service
levels. Gilham has more than 23 years of experience in the banking industry.
Louis H. Mills
has been appointed to serve on EverTrust Financial Group Inc.’s board
of directors in a newly created position. A former managing partner of
the Seattle office of Moss Adams LLP, Mills will serve as a financial
expert on the company’s audit committee.
Connie Pacheck
has been promoted to executive vice president of bank operations and human
resources at Frontier Bank. She has been with the bank for 23 years. Karl
Geyer recently joined Frontier’s real estate department as vice president
and real estate loan officer. He has more than 30 years of experience
in commercial mortgage lending and previously was with Artesia Mortgage
Capital in Issaquah. Vern Ashbrenner has joined Frontier’s Marysville
office as vice president and commercial loan officer. He has 32 years
of banking experience, most recently with EverTrust. Marci Miller,
operations supervisor at Frontier’s Lake Stevens office, has been
promoted to assistant vice president. She has been with the bank for more
than six years.
Eric Carlsen,
former credit administrator of Frontier Bank, recently was appointed chief
lending officer and senior vice president at Prime Pacific Bank in Lynnwood.
Julie Lowry
has been named team leader for two Wells Fargo branches in the Lake Stevens
area. She’ll oversee 13 employees at the branch at 1901 Main St., Lake
Stevens, and at 629 Highway 9 in Frontier Village. She is an assistant
vice president.
HEALTH CARE
Melissa Anderson has passed state exams to test, fit and dispense
hearing aids for Ears 2 U Hearing Aid Services, which has offices in Stanwood,
Marysville and Mount Vernon. She previously was general manager for the
company’s three offices.
LEGAL
James Shipman has been named a partner at the Everett law firm
of Bell & Ingram. He previously was an associate with the firm, working
in family law, business law and civil litigation.
Lee Tinney,
an attorney, has opened her own law office at 1604 Hewitt Ave., Suite
602, Everett. She specializes in family law.
MANUFACTURING
Norm Kelmis was named leader of the month for October at Meridian
Yachts in Arlington. Patti Hanson won the honor for November. Greg
Nies was selected for December and the fourth quarter of 2002.
NONPROFITS
Deborah Corliss of Mukilteo has been hired as Girl Scouts — Totem
Council’s outdoor education and camp properties director. She will be
based out of the Seattle main office.
Michael Frederick
has been named chief financial officer for Volunteers of America Western
Washington. He has 15 years of experience as an accountant. He will replace
Janette Saparto, who is retiring.
Sherri Graham
has been promoted to director of early childhood and family programs at
the Everett family branch of the YMCA of Snohomish County. She previously
was teen and family program director. In addition, Kelly Indrebo
has been promoted to teen director at the Everett branch, and Krystal
Warren has been promoted to teen director at the Monroe family branch.
REAL ESTATE
Sheryl Katcher has joined Windermere Real Estate’s Camano Plaza
office as a sales associate. She previously was a sales associate with
the Windermere Spokane-Valley office.
Jeannette Coons
has joined Windermere’s Everett-South office as an associate broker.
She and her husband, Bob, had owned Palisade Properties Inc. of
Everett for 20 years.
Tina Andrews
has joined Windermere’s Lake Stevens office as a sales associate. She
previously was employed with the NW Foursquare District Office in Everett.
Patricia J. Larson,
Mary Peterson, Natalee Thurston and Leigh Wilson have joined
Windermere’s Marysville office as sales associates. Peterson previously
was a sales associate with Century 21 in Arlington; Thurston previously
was a sales associate with Century 21 North Homes in Snohomish; and Wilson
previously was a coordinator with EverTrust Bank in Everett.
Wendy Place
has joined Windermere’s Mill Creek office as a sales associate.
RETIREMENT
Betty Bender has been hired as the executive director of Chateau
Pacific Retirement and Assisted Living Community in Lynnwood. She’ll be
responsible for day-to-day operations, the physical plant and the center’s
staff.
SPORTS
Sam Calles has been named education coordinator and consultant
for the Everett Silvertips hockey club. In his job, he will enroll the
team’s high school-age players in classes at local schools. He is a retired
Everett teacher.
TRANSIT
The Community Transit board of directors recently elected officers, including
Arlington Mayor Bob Kraski, chair; Mukilteo City Councilwoman Cathy
Reese, vice chair; and Lake Stevens Mayor Lynn Walty, secretary.
Kraski replaces outgoing board chair and Snohomish County Council Chairman
Gary Nelson, who will continue to serve as a board member. Also,
Snohomish County Councilman Dave Gossett recently was appointed
to the Community Transit board, replacing Snohomish County Councilman
Jeff Sax. Also serving on the nine-member board are Mountlake Terrace
Mayor Pat Cordova, Marysville Mayor Dave Weiser, Edmonds
City Councilman Dave Earling and Lynnwood City Councilwoman Lisa
Utter. Board alternates are Brier City Councilman Carlton Gipson,
Lynnwood City Councilman Martin Nelson, Mill Creek City Councilman
Jack Start, Bothell City Councilman Tim Olsen and Edmonds
City Councilman Richard Marin.
