Snohomish County
tourism stats

Tourism makes a big impact on Snohomish County’s economy, part of a $10.8 billion contribution statewide in 2000, according to statistics released in January by the state’s Office of Trade and Economic Development.

In a compilation of new tourism economic figures for Washington’s 39 counties, the numbers for Snohomish County tallied up this way:

  • Visitors spent more than $159 million in restaurants in 2000.
  • Transportation sectors benefited by $114 million in revenues.
  • Retail stores rang up $101 million.
  • The recreation industry reaped $95 million.
  • Hotels and motels took in $66 million.
  • Grocery stores bagged $37 million.

All of that spending in the county in 2000 supported 10,300 jobs with a $155 million payroll, along with providing $9.6 million in local taxes and $37 million in state taxes.
