American Society of Women Accountants
— Seattle Chapter

The mission of the American Society of Women Accountants “is to enable women in all accounting and related fields to achieve their full personal, professional, and economic potential and to contribute to the future development of the profession.”

The Seattle Chapter of the American Society of Woman Accountants holds dinner meetings on the fourth Wednesday of each month, unless otherwise noted, at the College Club of Seattle, 505 Madison St. Members have the opportunity to network during meetings, with a social hour beginning at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. and a scheduled program at 7:30 p.m. The cost of dinner meetings is $25 for members, $17 for student members, $27 for guests, $19 for student guests and $3 for those having coffee only.

The annual membership fee is $137 and includes national contacts for networking and professional information, opportunities for continuing professional education, regular newsletters, community service opportunities and access to a job bank.

Assistance League of Everett
The Assistance League of Everett is an all-volunteer organization whose philanthropic projects promote the well being and self-esteem of children, teens and adults in Snohomish County.

A chapter of the National Assistance League, the nonprofit organization brings seven philanthropic projects to the community. The largest and oldest project, Operation School Bell, provides clothing to children in need from early education through high school. In order to finance the programs, the organization relies on various fund-raising activities, including operation of a thrift shop.

The group meets at 10 a.m. the first Wednesday of the month, except July and August, at the Assistance League of Everett headquarters, 5107 Evergreen Way.

Cost of membership is $45 for voting members, $35 for Kitty Young Auxiliary for working professionals and $15 for Assisteens Auxiliary for teenagers. Members must be available to volunteer a certain number of hours per year, and voting members must be able to attend monthly meetings.

Association for Women in Computing
— Puget Sound Chapter

The Association for Women In Computing is a national, nonprofit, professional organization for individuals with an interest in information technology. The purpose of the Puget Sound Chapter is to promote awareness on issues affecting women in the computing industry, further the professional development and advancement of women in computing, and encourage women to enter computing as a career. The group welcomes men to all meetings or functions and to join as members.

Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of the month at Rock Salt Steaks & Seafood, 1232 Westlake Ave. N., in Seattle, with networking starting at 6 p.m., dinner at 6:30 p.m. and a program and Q&A meetings held from 7 to 8:15 p.m.

Cost to attend the monthly meetings is $30 for association members and students, $40 for nonmembers and $15 for the program without dinner.

The annual membership fee is $65. The fee for full-time students or the unemployed is $30.

Association for Women in Science
— Seattle Chapter

The Association for Women in Science is “dedicated to achieving equity and full participation for women in science, mathematics, engineering and technology.”

At the national level, AWIS publishes information for girls and women about science programs and women’s issues, including the bimonthly AWIS Magazine.

At the local level, the Seattle Chapter holds monthly educational programs throughout the academic year on the third Wednesday of each month from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The events are, unless otherwise noted, free to all members of the public. The group also operates a mentor-protege program to provide undergraduate students with role models in a field of mutual interest.

All chapter members must be members of the national AWIS. Membership dues at the national level are $150 for a sustaining member, $65 for a regular member and $25 for a student or retiree member. At the local level, membership dues are $20 for a regular member and $10 for a student member. Membership can be applied for online at www.awis.org.

Greater Everett Business and Professional Women
The Greater Everett Business and Professional Women is part of a national organization founded in 1919. The organization offers education, community outreach, leadership development and mentoring in addition to networking opportunities.

Meetings are held on the fourth Monday of each month in Everett, beginning at 6 p.m. and ending at 7:30 p.m. Every other month is an event/program; the business and team meetings are held on the alternate months. Meeting location varies depending on the program.

Annual dues are $96 and include the national, Washington state and district dues.

National Association of Women in Construction
— Greater Everett Chapter

The National Association of Women in Construction’s mission is “to enhance the success of women in the construction industry.” The group, which has some 5,800 members in almost 200 chapters, offers educational opportunities for its members, including certification courses and workshops, as well as a chance to network with others in the industry.

Locally, the Greater Everett Chapter meets at 5:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month at various locations for networking, dinner and a presentation. Cost to attend varies depending on locale.

Membership dues are $155, and that includes both national and local fees.

Office Support Services Association
The Office Support Services Association works to promote a spirit of helpfulness and fellowship among office support service businesses as well as to provide educational and networking opportunities.

The group meets on the second Wednesday of every month, except July, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The meeting location varies.

Membership requirements include completion of an application form, payment of annual dues and a copy of the business license of a business in the office support services industry.

Membership dues are $75 the first year and $95 for each successive year.

Soroptimist International of Everett
Soroptimist International of Everett is a volunteer service organization for women in business, management and the professions that focuses on “Making a Difference for Women” in the community as well as funding a scholarship for local high school girls and supporting local charitable organizations.

Members meet on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at the Everett Golf & Country Club from noon until 1 p.m., and lunch is served. The first meeting of the month is a business meeting; the second meeting of the month is the program of service meeting.

Yearly dues are $110, and the group charges quarterly for lunches as well: $10 per lunch in the quarter.

Soroptimist International of Sno-King
Soroptimist International of Sno-King is a 501(c)(3) corporation committed to “making a difference for women and girls” by contributing time and financial support to community-based projects benefiting women. The group has served south Snohomish and north King counties since 1964.

White Dove Networking
White Dove Networking is a member network devoted to women in business, with evening meetings held monthly at various locations around the Puget Sound for networking and dinner.

The 2005 membership dues are $69 in addition to a $15-per-month dues collection to cover the costs of food and overhead of meetings.

Women Business Owners
Women Business Owners’ mission is to help women-owned businesses succeed by educating members in business development, building a supportive membership community and providing information, resources and referrals through a network of members, guests and speakers.

WBO meets the fourth Thursday of each month, January through October, and the third Thursday of November (there is no meeting in December) at the Washington Athletic Club in downtown Seattle from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Annual dues are $155 for regular members (women who have at least 50 percent ownership in a business, either as a sole proprietor, partner or corporate shareholder) and $195 for associate members (men and women who support the growth and development of a strong women-owned business community).

Additional regular members from the same business can join for $95; and additional associate members from the same business can join for $155.

Zonta Club of Everett
The Zonta Club of Everett is part of Zonta International, a worldwide service organization of executives in business and the professions working together to advance the status of women.

The local club, established in 1929, holds its business meeting at 7:30 a.m. on the first Thursday of the month, with its program meeting held at noon on the third Thursday of the month. Both meetings take place at the Everett Golf & Country Club, 1500 52nd SE, in Everett.
