IT and networking programs
Edmonds Community College’s Computer Information
Systems department offers two new technology programs for student working
in IT and networking areas, particularly for cybersecurity professionals.
The college is expanding its Network Security
Certificate program, added last fall, to a two-year Information Security
degree, including a Linux Security Specialist certificate.
Studies for the degree include computer forensics,
firewalls, risk analysis and layered security design training to prepare
students for work as security or computer forensics analysts or information
security managers, engineers or administrators. Part of the class will
include working for CyberSecurity Institute,owned by instructor Steve
Hailey, and performing vulnerability assessments for local businesses
and organizations as well as working on computer forensic cases.
